SZ-R Evo or SZ-R VAS: how can I tell which Arai helmet I have?
Share
This is the question we receive most often: "I know I have an Arai, but I don't know if it's an SZ-R Evo or an SZ-R Vas." Rest assured, it's not a problem — the answer is written on your helmet, you just need to know where to look.
The most reliable method: the interior label
On all approved Arai helmets, a label is stuck inside the shell, generally visible by removing the cheek pad or by looking at the back of the shell. It indicates the approval standard (ECE R22-05 or R22-06 depending on the year and model), the size, and above all, the model reference.
On the back of the shell, above this label, the model name is also screen-printed directly onto the helmet: you will read either "SZ-R EVO" or "SZR VAS". This is the simplest and quickest confirmation.
Why this check is important
Our stickers are custom-cut to fit the exact shape of a specific model: the cutouts, ventilation areas, and grille curves are not identical between an SZ-R Evo and an SZ-R Vas. A sticker designed for one will not fit perfectly on the other.
It is precisely to avoid this type of ordering error that we have set up a "What is your helmet?" selector on the home page, with a visual of the label area to check for each model.
Still in doubt?
If the label is illegible or you are still hesitant, contact us with a photo of your helmet — we will confirm the model before you place your order.
